What are the latest rumours and announcements?

As you can see, the line-up for Download 2023 is already huge, but there are still more bands to be announced. The festival organisers have promised that there will be over 200 acts across six stages, so there is plenty of room for surprises and speculation. Here are some of the latest rumours and announcements that we have heard:

  • The festival will feature a special tribute to the late Joey Jordison, the former drummer of Slipknot, who passed away in July 2021. The tribute will include a video montage, a drum solo and a performance by his former bandmates in Murderdolls.

  • The festival will also honour the memory of Eddie Van Halen, the legendary guitarist of Van Halen, who died in October 2020. The festival will have a dedicated stage named after him, where some of his friends and fans will play his songs and share their stories.

  • The festival will have a new stage called The Doghouse, which will host some of the best emerging and underground bands in the rock and metal scene. The stage will be curated by Kerrang! magazine and will feature bands such as Employed To Serve, Conjurer, Venom Prison, Palm Reader and more.

  • The festival will have a special guest appearance by Ozzy Osbourne, who was supposed to headline Download 2020 before it was cancelled. Ozzy has been recovering from various health issues and has not performed live since 2018. He is expected to join Metallica on stage for a song or two.

  • The festival will have a surprise headliner for the fourth day, which has not been revealed yet. Some of the names that have been rumoured are Foo Fighters, Green Day, System Of A Down, Rammstein and Iron Maiden.

Conclusion

Download 2023 is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best editions of the festival ever. With a four-day event, a massive line-up, a tribute to some of the legends of rock and metal, and a lot of surprises in store, it is definitely something that you don't want to miss. If you are a fan of rock and metal music, you should get your tickets as soon as possible, because they are likely to sell out fast. Download 2023 is going to be epic!
